Olweus Bully Prevention
Instructor: Mr. Dove
Glenkirk Elementary School is continuing on a journey to make the educational experience even more exciting and comfortable for all students. We are taking part in the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program.  This program was not started because students felt unsafe at school but to help make the school and even more welcoming, open environment for all students.

The program has many components.
The first component are assemblies.  At the beginning of each year Glenkirk will have a kickoff assembly.  During the assembly students will get excited about the school year and we will review the Glenkirk Bullying rules.  Another assembly will take place mid-year with a focus on how to avoid or handle bullying situations.
The second component is the class meeting.  Each week all classes have a class meeting during which the class works to create a common bond.  During the meeting bullying situations or examples can be discusses as well as how to handle those situations.

Occasionally, the school's Bullying expert, Sir Golden will visit Glenkirk to share stories and discuss how to handle bullying situations with the students.

All teachers at Glenkirk have been trained by the schools Olweus Bullying lead team.  They all share the common goal of making Glenkirk the greatest school in Prince William County where students have fun learning and feel safe!
